Radiohead is always going to be as unique as they can. The last time they were here they wanted to be as eco friendly as possible their entire tour. They offered biodegradable everything, and clothing made from recycled materials. The challenge for me was the use of energy efficient LED lights for the complete stage lighting. It looked great for the audience, but was not nearly enough light for those trying to take photos of the band. Though Radiohead hasn’t changed their way entirely, this time around they took a slightly different approach to their lighting set up. The LEDs were still in use, but this time they used them to actually light up the stage! Ten square LED screens where all independently hanging from positional chains which varied position per song. Below is a photo of all the background screens across the stage. They were all aimed parallel with the stage, straight down and illuminating the stage with solid white .
The white screens made the stage seem entirely more intimate and was like something I’d never seen before. Leave it to Radiohead to take a 15,000 plus venue and find a way to make the stage feel like you’re in someones garage.
